20 years of Strähle at the Borkheide site: a success story
What began with the building of a new and modern production plant in Borkheide in January 1997 is now a success story. It was the close proximity to economic regions in the north and east that originally prompted us to invest in the Borkheide site. A 3000 square-metre greenfield plant was built, comprising a production hall equipped with state-of-the-art machinery for metal and wood processing and an office building.
Thanks to the dedication of our employees, we have managed, over time, to build up a productive operation working at full capacity with a reliable supplier network in the region and a loyal customer base. Just like at our headquarters, the complete product range is manufactured here. All orders for export – with the exception of Switzerland – are processed in Borkheide as well as those orders north of the Cologne/Dresden axis. As demand for the Strähle systems has continued to grow, the plant was extended to 6000 square metres two years ago. As a result, production and warehousing were restructured and more space for metal processing and logistics was created. Today, 50 employees work at the Borkheide site; about a third of the total number of staff. In recent years they have produced partition-wall, room-in-room and acoustic systems for notable projects such as the revamped Bikini Haus, the Coca-Cola headquarters and the Microsoft Center at Unter den Linden in Berlin, the Philips headquarters and the Spiegel publishing house in Hamburg, and the UBS Bank in London. Something to be proud of!
Work to redesign the exhibition rooms at Borkheide was completed in good time for the anniversary celebrations in May. Here, architects, planners and developers can experience future-oriented solutions for interiors first-hand and find inspiration.
